Small Footprint, High Efficiency
Greenhouse producers of all sizes will benefit from high thermal efficiency condensing boilers, while maximizing growing space.

Fusion BoilerIncrease heating efficiency by up to 12%, reducing energy costs and saving growing space in the process with a Futera Fusion condensing boiler. Investing up front in a Fusion condensing boiler will result in more long-term savings. While condensing boilers typically cost up to 50% more than conventional options, the payback from 99% thermal efficiency and lower fuel use is expected to provide a rapid return on investment in less than five years. Plus, growers adopting high-efficiency options like condensing boilers may be eligible for grants or loans through the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) and the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP).

ADVANCED HEATER EXCHANGE TECHNOLOGY

Many condensing boiler models feature traditional cast iron heat exchangers, which can be easily corroded. The Fusion’s low-mass primary heat exchanger has no gaskets and features solid bronze headers and finned copper or cupronickel tubing for superior heat transfer, resistance to scaling and protection from thermal shock. The condensing secondary heat exchanger is solid stainless steel and designed to operate at the boiler’s full flow rate. It operates constantly in full condensing mode while a state-of-the-art temperature mixing system protects the boiler’s primary heat exchanger.

GET "ON BOARD"

HeatNet controls are built into each Fusion boiler to enhance efficiency and provide constant communication. “On board” HeatNet controls elimate the need for wall-mounted control panels, and maximize operating efficiency and turndown rates to create substantial energy savings. When Fusion is set up as a stand-alone boiler or a boiler in a network, HeatNet offers precision control, repeatability and feedback with digtial communications control.

SPACE SAVER

Large capacity in a small footprint offers greater flexibility and ease of installation. The rugged structural steel base is designed to fit through a standard, 30-inch doorway, and venting options provide added installation flexibility. The compact size of Fusion boilers allow for multiple boiler installations while conserving valuable space.

OPERATING ADVANTAGES

Other advantages to Fusion condensing boilers include:

  • Seamless modulating turndown with ultra-low emission levels and noise-free operation from the metal fiber burner.
  • Symmetric air/fuel coupling, reacting to change in the air or fuel flow by reducing input while maintaining high combustion quality for enhanced safety.
  • Ability to be stored outdoors with optional housing, maximizing indoor growing space.

FAQs: Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What does a condensing boiler do to increase heating efficiency?

A: Condensing boilers utilize the latent heat of water produced from burning fuel, in addition to the standard, sensible heat to increase its efficiency. In a conventional boiler, fuel is burned and the hot gases produced are passed through a heat exchanger where much of their heat is transferred to water, thus raising the water’s temperature.

One of the hot gases produced in the combustion process is water vapor or steam. A condensing boiler extracts added heat from the waste gases by condensing steam to liquid water, recovering its latent heat. A typical increase in efficiency can be between 10% to 12%. Up to 98% thermal efficiency can be achieved, compared to 70% to 80% with conventional designs.

Q: How does the cost of a condensing boiler compare to a non-condensing boiler?

A:Typically, condensing boilers cost 50% more to buy and install than conventional boiler types; however, upgrading your operation’s energy efficiency could qualify you for government grants or loans through the REAP and EQIP programs. Learn more at www.rurdev.usda.gov/or/reap.htm and www.nrcs.usda.gov/programs/eqip/.

Q: What is the expected payback on a new condensing boiler?

A:The extra cost of installing a condensing boiler should be recovered in two to five years, and continue to provide savings through lower fuel use. Exact figures will depend on the product’s use and the needs of your operation. Delta T’s experts can provide customized installation solutions and components as needed. We can easily calculate your particular payback scenario once we understand your operation.
